Celebrating Custom Made Theatre Co’s 20th anniversary season, we are thrilled to invite you to a script-in-hand benefit performance of “Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell,” featuring most of the original cast of the acclaimed 2011 production, including executive director Leah Abrams and company members Gabriel Ross, AJ Davenport and Richard Wenzel. Joining the cast for this benefit will be original co-director and artistic director of Custom Made, Brian Katz.
This one-night-only (Saturday, July 28tth, 8 pm) benefit starts at $20, with premium seating and a post-show reception at higher tiers. We hope those who can contribute will support Custom Made’s mission to bring intimate, affordable and socially conscious theatre to downtown San Francisco.
About “Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell”:
Spalding’s collaborator and widow, Kathleen Russo, conceived a way for Spalding’s words to live on in a vibrant, creative and unexpected way. Her concept was to have five actors, of mixed age and gender, take on parts of Spalding’s psyche: love, family, career, adventure and, of course, journals. Then, mix together famous parts of his great works, along with never-before-heard private writings, into a 75-minute monologue. The result is a sum greater than its parts. Not only are we reminded of the genius of Spalding Gray, but we are also treated to an even greater insight into the man, his work, and those he left behind.
