Sibling rivalry, adultery, and dungeons makes this a modern-day holiday classic. The queen, and wealthiest woman in the world, Eleanor of Aquitaine, has been kept in prison since raising an army against her husband, King Henry II. Let out only for holidays, the play centers around the inner conflicts of the royal family as they fight over both a kingdom and King Henry’s paramour during the Christmas of 1183. As Eleanor says, “every family has its ups and downs,” and this royal family is no exception.

Reviews

“Fresh, funny, and moving…The situation is historically accurate, but the play is not a history lesson. The drama of family alliances is as modern as can be.” -Charles Kruger, TheatreStorm

“A fun night at the theater with a dollop of historical fiction that is a solid dysfunctional family drama.” -Kedar Adour, ForAllEvents

“A stimulating performance..Dysfunctional to the extreme, the members of this royal family plot against each other and use one another as pawns, leaving the audience to watch as they vie for power.” -Nikki Munoz, Daily Cal

“You’ll leave the play relieved by how (relatively) uneventful your family’s Christmases are. Barbs are traded, plots are hatched, and swords are unsheathed…” Ilana Walder-Biesanz, Stark Inisder
