More About Our Company

The Custom Made Theatre Co., in its 13th season of production in San Francisco, is committed to producing plays that awaken our social conscience, focusing on the strength of the ensemble and creating an intimate theatrical experience.

Our eclectic line-up of shows (and some might say artists) highlights the diversity of our community.  While our productions have always had strong political and social commentary, we also love low-humor, high-humor, emotional drama and intimate looks at life and art.

Our home is the Gough Street Playhouse, a small thrust theatre (audience on 3-sides) that doesn’t have a bad seat. Audiences may often find themselves inches from the performers, and never more than a few feet away. We believe in the power of bond between artist and audience, and our intimate stage brings us together to experience stories, music and drama as a communal experience.
