The Heidi Chronicles
by Wendy Wassertein
directed by Brian Katz Sept-Oct '09
This Pulitzer-Prize winning play follows art historian, Heidi Holland, from the idealism of the 1960s to turn-of-the-century alienation, as we encounter her friends and lovers throughout this uniquely American story. We are thrilled to bring back one of our favorite shows to open our new home!
Cotton Patch Gospel
By Harry Chapin
Directed by Marilyn Langbehn; Nov-Dec '09
The legendary singer-songwriter Harry Chapin ("Taxi," "Cats in the Cradle") penned the music and lyrics to "The Greatest Story Ever Re-Told." This progressive, modern bluegrass gospel follows preacher Jesus Davidson on a joyous, uplifting and thoughtful journey from birth in Gainesville, GA to his ultimate end in Atlanta.
Red Light Winter
By Adam Rapp
Directed by Brian Katz; Jan-Feb '10
Escaping their lives in Manhattan, former college buddies, Matt and Davis, take off to Amsterdam and find themselves thrown into a bizarre love triangle with a beautiful young prostitute named Christina. But the romance they encounter in Europe is eventually overshadowed by the truth they discover at home. Adam Rapp's play is poetic, erotic, and unforgettable.
*note: "Red Light Winter" is a strong "R" if judged by the MPAA. Adolescents should have adult accompaniment.
The Diary of Anne Frank
new adaptation by Wendy Kessleman
directed by Leah S. Abrams; March-April '10
This dynamic new adaptation of "The Diary of Anne Frank" gives us an Anne who is overflowing with adolescent life. Upon his death, Anne's father, Otto, released the previously unpublished portions of his daughter's diary. Here, we are presented an Anne we can recognize as ourselves - defiant, passionate, curious, and determined. This new Diary fearlessly addresses the realities of the Holocaust and a life in hiding.
Sister Mary Ignatius Explains it All For You and The Actor's Nightmare
two comedies by Christopher Durang
Directed by Daunielle Rassmusen and Gabriel A. Ross; June-July '10
Two hilarious plays by Christopher Durang
Perhaps our funniest, darkest and most absurd writer, Durang's plays are instantly recognizable and hysterically uncomfortable. Here, we take two of his most beloved plays to end our season and leave you laughing! Join Sister Mary for a tour of her own unique brand of Catholicism, and then find out what all actors (and accountants) truly fear.
